Rome Seminar. April 29th to May 3rd of 2009

FIS SHIATSU

THE EXPERIENCE OF INTERNATIONAL MEETING

During five days it took place an international meeting in Rome, 450 people attended.

SHIATSU TODAY

EXPERIENCES OF AN INTERNATIONAL MEETING

This convention organized by FIS has much more variety than the other twenty that the Italian Shiatsu Federation has organized in the past years, but the main goal is the same for everyone who participates in these seminars, shiatsu in present days, the experience.

Worldwide, there are many comparisons between existing techniques.

In Europe, it has never occurred in a convention, such a large participation of speakers, approximately thirty, and of representatives of International Shiatsu Associations.

Foremost, Japan Shiatsu College from Tokyo, the historical shiatsu school in Japan founded by Tokujiro Namikoshi has honoured the act with the presence of its president, Kazutami Namikoshi and its most illustrious representatives, also master Onoda as representative of Namikoshi Shiatsu Europa, representatives of European Associations of Shiatsu, International Shiatsu Network and European Shiatsu Federation, representatives of Nationals Shiatsu Federations from France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and England, representatives of Italian associations, FNSS; Which collaborates with FIS NIC, AS and representatives of Namikoshi associations, APIS associated to NSE and AISN.

This wide associative international presence in this meeting has great importance which shows the Knowledge reached; essential for the comparison and the interchange not just for the common European politic in favour of Shiatsu but above all for deepening and for the future of Shiatsu.

Opening speech and presentation of JSC by Kazutami Namikoshi.

There were many exposures which were held in large facilities enabled for this event.

Italian Shiatsu Federation feels very thankful for so many speakers of International Shiatsu who accepted the invitation and they decided to travel and participate in this seminar. All this representatives wanted to exposed their shiatsu and debate in roundtables.

Masters as Akinobu Kishi, Ryokyo Endo and Clifford Andrews assisted; we just name a few foreigners who were non-representatives of any federation.

And the representation of Italian Shiatsu has never been so large. It is important because our shiatsu is alive for their effort and this meeting remarked their importance.

Here, there were the possibilities to face, improve, and enrich every kind of Shiatsu and to show the experiences of many professionals to debate together.

During the convention, everyone, scheduled, interchange an authentic treatment of shiatsu. It has been very stimulating, and it will help to expand our horizon, to raise our self-confidence and the personal evolution of our shiatsu sharing our time with the best professionals.

Guatemala Students finished up the first cycle of his last year.

We concluded the first cycle of the third year, in Japanese Shiatsu School in Guatemala… everything end up very well, good working intensity, high spirit and above all we were having fun…In the other hand, the Agora Social Collaboration Project is getting closer to most depressed cores in Guatemala, so in a few years we will create homes of reception…and initiate their professional formation, children mainly who can not afford the payment of formation costs neither have a chance…well, this matter goes slowly…but forward which is the important thing…

If you look up to top of the mountain

And you feel discouraged

Because it is far still…

Look down and encourage…

Thinking in all the way you had already walked…

Live in the teachings of the art of shiatsu

With the spirit of “ETERNAL APPRENTICE”…

So you will always have a top of a mountain to reach…

And a motivation to keep on growing…

A big hug to everyone who believe that things can be different…

Seminar of Shiatsu in Madrid, February 2009

An International Shiatsu seminar was held at Foxá-32 Hotel in Madrid, presided by Master Onoda, president and promoter of Namikoshi Shiatsu Europa Association and of Japanese Shiatsu School. We counted with guests from different countries such as Italy, Holland, Belgium, Portugal and Mexico. Also it has been useful as meeting point for students and people from different Spanish autonomic communities interested in Shiatsu. North and south, western and eastern united under a sole flag: a hand and the thumb, as healing symbol.

As every manual art, it is needed a knowledge of a guideline or basic rules, which is the origin of different variations. The bases are the Katas or ideal position for working, a mixture of postural hygiene and “chords” to enable a “melody” of this martial therapy.

This meetings are called recycling seminar, because it is needed and actualization as therapist, concerned to changes that it has been approved by the official school in Japan. We can see, this technique is in constant evolution. Also, because of rhythm and way of life changing, the spirit of Shiatsu fits to changes reflected in human bodies.

There were different presentation; by the morning it was remarked the actualization through practice of new changes occurred to original technique. Different instructors helped to correct the postural tendencies and wrong pressures of assistants.

Also, it was bear in mind an interesting issue for therapist: maintenance exercises for a healthy and flexible body, a stretching called Makko Ho. It is a technique of exercises that are synthesized in a way that in just a few minutes it could be reached the vitality of the body.

Instructor Alberto Polidori, as represent of Italy, exposed to us the range fan technique, that he used in his work and in his investigations during years with paraplegic and tetraplegic, even some seriously ill. He has checked in his own hands, its efficiency. This technique remarks the work over the inter scapula zone, above all, moving the musculature under scapula, a key zone for the health of the heart and of shoulder and of upper member.

We had other presentations: Mateo García del Rio, manager of Malaga school, explained the osmotic pressure technique which shows how to eliminate the roominess

and penetrate to the interior of the point (tsubo), because usually the affected zone is tight and it is difficult to treat.

Eduardo Pérez, instructor in Valencia explained to us the last changes in Basic Namikoshi Shiatsu.

Teacher and coordinator of Shiatsu in Sintagma School from Valencia, offered auto-shiatsu technique to free one o the most affected areas in patients and therapists: neck and shoulder. He remarked the importance of be aware of our own body state. Notice the change before and after the exercise, so in this therapy, it is required an active participation of patient to take control of body messages.

Members of COFENAT and from associations from Madrid, Malaga, Valencia, Portugal and Italian shiatsu voluntary workers had their time to speak to assistants.Juan de Dios Villegas exposed their plan for this year Walk to Santiago.

To end up, we shared technical Knowledge in a practical way in their different speeches.

So in a day of theory and a lot of practice, participants of this seminar shared the basis of  this work, the intention to heal from the heart. As remuneration we could see people more relaxed, a better health and with a spirit renewal as therapist. Metaphorically, this meeting made sprout a spark of inspiration, like a live concert to a musician.

Daigo Ohnuma - Shiatsu Practitioner.

Supervision Malaga. February 28th , 2009

Master Onoda has traveled again to Andalucia to visit schools of Málaga and Granada.

In Málaga, he supervised pupils of second and third level, instructed by Mateo Garcia del Río. More than 20 people participated during the whole day of Saturday. They worked on basic shiatsu and also corrected the work of the students; master Onoda explained a few new issues. These brushstrokes will help pupils to front their diary job when they were therapist.

At the end, everyone show up in the group picture as witness of the event.

Supervision.- Shiatsu On The Chair

Master Onoda imparted a supervision class to students of first and second level.

The treatment on chair is been chosen for the meeting. Shiatsu is usually applied on a Stretcher, but also can be done on the floor (tatami) or sat on a chair. This way of working is indicated to patients who can not be lied down on a stretcher neither on a tatami because of their ache.

The technique used is the same learned during the formation of the students, but this one requires different postures and manipulations. Master Onoda took advantage to teach things that can not included in the course schedule.
