Dr. Kenzo Kase, founder of the Kinesio Taping (KT) method received his Doctorate of Chiropractic from the National College of Chiropractic and has had his own practice in the United States for several years. From his clinical experience, Dr. Kase found that joint pain resulted from the abnormality of muscles and myofascia tissues around the joints rather than from the joints itself. With this in mind, Dr. Kase developed and introduced Kinesio Taping to correct the abnormality of muscles and myofascial tissues.
PAIN IN JOINTS
Countles numbers of people suffer from chronic knee and lower back pain and as the years pass by, many of these people have even given up on overcoming these conditions. Remarkable progression in Western Medicine, notably X-ray pictures and imaging makes the detection of these conditions possible. Unfortunately, in many of these cases, patients have been told that the curability of these conditions is extremely low. However, through and ingenious method and technique known as Kinesio Taping these patients now have an effective tool in the rehabilitation of these and many other conditions.
THE CAUSE EXISTS IN THE SKIN AND MUSCLES
Dr. Kenzo Kase, founder of the Kinesio Taping method received this Doctorate of Chiropractic from the National College of Chiropractic and has had his own practice in the United Stated for several years. From his clinical experience, Dr. Kase found that joint pain resulted from the abnormality of muscles and myofascia tissue around the joints rather than from the joints itself. With this in mind. Dr. Kase developed and introduced Kinesio Taping to correct the abnormality of muscles and myofascia tissues.
THE BIRTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF KINESIO TAPING
According to the principles of Kinesiology, excessive stretch in the muscles causes abnormal over-contraction of itself. Dr. Kase understood that the misalignment of these joints would be lead by this abnormal over-contraction, and therefore realized that these joints were in fact, moved by the muscles around it.
During his clinical practice Dr.Kase had applied conventional non -streched athletic tape to patiens in order to aid in the correction of these abnormalities. The tape was able to aid (to some extent) in the correction of these abnormalities, but the rigid, conventional athletic tape aggravated the patients' pain and edema. Dr. Kase decided to develop a stretchable, non-irritant tape to control the abnormal over-contraction of these muscles.
